If you have excess skin or fat in your thighs and are looking to reduce their appearance, a Thigh Lift may be an option for you. Consulting with a plastic surgeon is the best way to determine if this procedure is right for you, as they can assess your individual needs and medical history.

During a Thigh Lift, general anesthesia is typically used. An incision is made on either the inner or outer thigh depending on how much and where the excess skin or fat is located. The surgeon then works to remove the unwanted areas and lift the underlying tissue to give an improved, youthful contour.

The procedure can take anywhere from 2-4 hours to complete, depending on the extent of the treatment.

A thigh lift is usually done as an outpatient procedure, so you won’t have to stay in the hospital. However, you should arrange for a ride home once the procedure is complete, as the effects of anesthesia may take a few hours to wear off.

After the thigh lift procedure, it’s normal to experience some swelling and bruising that should resolve within a few days. You may also have some discomfort which can be managed with pain medication. To ensure a successful recovery, you must follow the surgeon’s post-op instructions for taking care of the treated area and avoiding strenuous physical activity during this period.

A thigh lift may leave a scar along the inner or outer thigh that will be well-concealed under clothing. With proper care, this scar should gradually fade so it is less noticeable over time. Your surgeon may recommend techniques such as silicone sheets, taping or massaging to help minimize the visibility of the scar and ensure a successful recovery.

After a thigh lift procedure, most people can resume their normal daily activities in just one or two weeks. For optimum results, it is important to take care of the treated area by avoiding strenuous activity and following your surgeon’s post-operative instructions. Even though you may feel good enough to move around shortly after the procedure, it may take several weeks or months for all signs of swelling to disappear and for the final results to be visible.
